Voter Rights Information As a registered voter, you have the following rights to: - Receive assistance from an interpreter if you speak Spanish or Chinese at designated poll sites. If no interpreter is available at your site, call (212) VOTE-NYC. - Request instructions from the elections inspector on how to use the voting machine. - Ask if you are at the correct poll site and election district, if your name cannot be found in the registration book. - Cast a ballot if you are at the right election, but your name still cannot be located in the registration book. You may vote on a paper affidavit ballot. Your vote will be counted after your registration is confirmed. - If the elections inspector does not offer you a paper affidavit ballot, ask for one. If you prefer, you may go to the Board of Elections office in your borough (345 Adams Street - 4th Floor - Brooklyn, New York 11201) to get a judge’s order allowing you to vote on the machine. - Vote on the machine if your right to vote is challenged by an inspector or anyone else, if you take an oath about your true identity and place of residence. If you swear these two things, no one can stop you from voting. - Vote without waiting if the voting machine is broken. The election inspectors have paper emergency ballots for this purpose. Ask for one. Your vote will be counted just as if you had cast your vote by the machine. - Vote, if you are on line before 9:00 pm on Election Day. If there is any problem talk to the police officer on duty. - Receive assistance from the elections inspector to vote, if you request it due to a disability or any other reason.
